TAKE CONTROL OF SYSTEM RESTORE: Here's a tip some of you might like to try: 1. Turn off System restore as described by Brink. Go into services and ensure Volume Shadow Copy and Microsoft Shadow Copy are both set to manual and start them ( right click on each service to bring up the options to do this.) 3. Create a restore point ( control panel>system>advanced system settings>system protection, check the boxes for the drives you want to create a restore point for and click apply.) 4. Go back to services and stop and disable Volume Shadow Copy and Microsoft Shadow Copy. This restore point will always be there for you - just re-enable and restart Volume Shadow Copy and Microsoft Shadow Copy before restoring. You can repeat this as often as you like so you always have the restore point(s) that you want, without having System Restore running in the background using up resources.
